David Lapthorn

David is a Chartered Accountant, Chartered Tax Adviser and Trust and Estate Practitioner. He merged his own Chartered Accountancy business into Ward Goodman in 1999 after 10 years of running a successful partnership in Bournemouth. His initial training was with one of the large national firms and after qualifying in his accountancy and tax disciplines he moved to London to spend several enjoyable years in the City office of another national firm expanding his knowledge and experience base.

Throughout his career, David has developed lasting relationships with many clients and business contacts. Over that time he has been privileged to help clients by bringing his expertise to bear on problems associated with most phases in life and business. This has included personal and business tax planning and business planning ranging from conceptual idea to fledgling business, funding for business development, supporting all the necessary accounting, reporting and tax obligations, acquisitions and disposals, succession planning and inheritance tax and trust planning.

David is a past President of ICAEW Southern, and continues to act on their Main Committee. He is a past Chairman of the Joint Professions Group covering the Wessex region and, in support of local businesses, is Chair of the Security Group for Ferndown and Uddens BID Limited. Over the years, David has been involved on the committees/boards of other non-profit making organisations and a past treasurer of STEP Bournemouth.

Away from the office, David enjoys family life. He is a music lover and a keen walker. He can also be found performing gigs as a drummer and occasional guitarist for bands in the area.
