Dorset Charities Conference 2018 Speakers

Speaker Bios

The event, which is now in its seventh year, will continue to connect charities with leading sector suppliers and a wealth of expert speakers, who will be conducting informative presentations throughout the day providing an opportunity for delegates to earn CPD credits where applicable.

John Yates

Jon Yates, Chief Executive, Dorset Community Foundation

Before training with the Institute of Fundraising Jon spent 21 years in Management Accountancy with Zurich Financial Services. Jon has spent the last 10 years working with companies, trusts and individual donors to encourage local philanthropy as a way to address growing social need. “I am driven by a well-developed sense of fair play and working for a large Insurance Company never really did it for me. Community Foundations are based on fairness and I am very ambitious for Dorset’s and therefore for the local groups and people we are able to support through our grant making. Whether that be through strengthening the voluntary sector, levelling the educational playing field or ensuring our older residents are warm and safe in their homes.”

Jon has a first-class BA Hons in History from The Open University and is married with two children. A keen follower of rugby he also coaches at Junior level and like many people is a frustrated writer.
