Ward Goodman employs over 60 staff within its five principal departments:

  • LAPD (Large Accounts and Pensions Department)
  • SBU (Small Business Unit)
  • Tax Department
  • Financial Services
  • Business Services - Consisting of specialized IT (Information Technology), HR (Human Resources) & Marketing professionals

Each department benefits from having its own dedicated team of employees, a Department Manager and a Director.

Graham Ball
Graham Ball, Managing Director
Graham joined Ward Goodman in 1988, having qualified in 1986 with Deloittes. As Managing Director, Graham has helped build WG to a multi disciplined team of 60 staff. Graham specialises in business development for his clients and also management buy-outs, mergers and takeovers, whilst undertaking forensic work in many areas, such as fraud and divorce.

Ian Rodd
Ian Rodd, Director of LAPD
Ian is a qualified Chartered Accountant and auditor with over 18 years experience. Ian has previously worked for a 'big 4 firm' in Bournemouth, Southampton and Bristol. Since moving back to Poole Ian has specialized in the audit of medium sized companies and groups including charities, pension schemes & FSA registered organizations.

Simon Wilcox
Simon Willcox, Director of Ward Goodman Financial Services
Simon is a qualified Independent Financial Advisor who has previously been employed at a number of high street banks and managed a high profile building society in central London. In 1999 Simon started Ward Goodman Financial Services Ltd and the continued success of WGFS has allowed for the formation of a joint venture financial services company with Humphries Kirk Solicitors.

Richard Dare, Director of Ward Goodman Outsourcing
Richard is a qualified Certified Accountant with over 20 years of experience, gained in practice and industry. Richard heads up our Outsourcing team at Ward Goodman, which provides clients with outsourced finance functions that free up business owners time, reduces risk and delivers timely and quality information to make better decisions.

Roger Duckworth, Director of SBU
Roger is a qualified Certified Accountant with over 20 years of experience. Roger runs the Small Business Unit at Ward Goodman, which specializes in accounting, advice and bookkeeping services for small and start up businesses.

David Lapthorn
David Lapthorn, Director of Tax Department
David is a triple qualified chartered accountant, chartered tax adviser and trust and estate practitioner. David heads up the energetic tax department, which splits its time between relieving clients from the problems of dealing with HM Revenue and Customs compliance and helping clients benefit from effective tax planning.

Gareth Simon, Senior Financial Adviser & Financial Services Manager
Gareth has worked in the financial services sector for over 12 years and holds the advanced investment planning qualification. Prior to joining WGFS Gareth completed a taxation and law degree and trained at one of the largest IFA firms in Dorset.

Bob Cox, Human Resources Manager
Bob has many years experience gained with Human Resources Management, working both within businesses as a Human Resources Manager/Director and delivering a Consultancy service. Bob is a Chartered Member of the CIPD and has a track record of delivering positive solutions to Human Resources issues within SME's and Charities as well as large corporate bodies; he is also an experienced Training and Development practitioner.

John Davies, Tax Consultancy Manager
John leads the Tax consultancy team and has over 20 years of experience at Ward Goodman. In addition to coordinating the tax and payroll functions of the department John is responsible for providing consultancy advice to ensure that clients minimise their tax liabilities and are able to plan for the future.

John Garvin, Personal Tax, Trusts & Estates Consultant
John is a Chartered Accountant and a member of STEP (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners) and has over 40 years experience. John manages and advises a small number of high net worth clients on trust and estate planning matters and is also a Trustee and advisor to a number of Trusts.

John Blakey, Specialised Audits & Accounts Manager
With over 35 years in the accountancy business, 25 of those years with Ward Goodman. John specializes in the auditing and accounting of Pension Scheme accounts, contribution audits and other specialised audits relating to the Pension Industry. He is also responsible for services to Clubs, Charities and Associations. John is a trustee and treasurer for a local charity in Salisbury a position he has held for over 20 years.

Geoff Hill Tax Manager Ward Goodman
Geoff Hill, Tax Manager
Geoff is a Taxation manager with extensive experience in advising a broad range of businesses and individuals over the last 15 years. He qualified as a Chartered Tax Adviser in 2001, placed first nationally for his outstanding performance. Geoff was until recently Senior Tax Manager at a Top 10 firm and brings a wealth of experience to Ward Goodman. Geoff often lectures in taxation matters to local practitioners and business owners, and is an active member of the Southampton Chamber of Commerce Tax, Finance and Legal committee
